Dr. Al Staab

Tamara Pauletto, DVM

Dr. Tamara Pauletto is a devout “Prescottonian” with a profound love of animals. Dr. Tammy graduated with honors from Colorado State University in 2005, and then went on to earn the title of “Intern of the Year” at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in New York City. She embraces the unique bond that is formed over time between primary care veterinarian, client, and patient. Her special areas of interest include complicated medical cases, therapeutic dental care, and cardiac/abdominal ultrasound. In her 'spare' time, she enjoys riding horses, practicing yoga, and hanging out with her three crazy daughters!

Dr. Al Staab

Joy Fuhrman, DVM

Originally from South Africa, Dr. Joy Fuhrman has extensive experience in financial consulting and corporate accounting. A graduate of Colorado State University’s combined MBA/DVM program, she offers a combination of veterinary practice ownership and practice management, financial analysis, business valuation, professional development, and leadership training skills.

Her veterinary experience includes small animal general and emergency practice and small and large animal anesthesia and pain management. She has served on the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association Board of Directors and helped develop their Power of Ten Leadership Academy program. In addition to her consulting work through Joy Fuhrman and Associates, LLC, Dr. Fuhrman is also an Adjunct Faculty at Midwestern University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Al Staab

Melissa Guzmán, DVM, MPH - Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Guzmán is the newest member of the Harmony Veterinary Care team, joining us as an Associate Veterinarian in February 2023. She has lived in Prescott for 9 years and loves to spend her time hiking with her dogs and her husband on lonely trails, bicycle riding, walking, paddle boarding and anything else that keeps her moving! She grew up in Texas, but has always been a snow lover, thus has lived in the mountains of New Mexico, Colorado, Alaska and Arizona for the last 28 years. Dr. Guzmán received a BA in Sociology from the University of Texas, earned a Master's degree in Sociology/Counseling from Drake University, then almost finished a BS in Biology on her way to veterinary school. She attended Colorado State University for her veterinary degree, and several years later got a Master of Public Health from the University of Florida.

Early on in her career she worked in College Recreation and Fitness, then as a backcountry guide in training before she took a pretty crazy fall down a mountain. She went to Alaska to recover from her injuries and loved it so much, she decided to stay on for 5 years! While she was there, she worked in social services and then in the pharmaceutical industry. Although she loved her previous professions, she finally decided to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. During veterinary school she was trained in Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians, and over the last 3 years has been training in Canine Rehabilitation through the University of Tennessee CCRP program.

Initially, Dr. Guzmán practiced at rural veterinary clinics where she did a little horse work and saw a few goats and sheep here and there. She was also a USDA contract veterinarian at a wolf rescue/sanctuary for several years, as well as treated small exotic mammals, but focused primarily on dogs and cats. While in Arizona, she expanded her reach by periodically working at low-cost vaccine clinics in rural areas, filling-in at her local humane society, and doing some urgent/emergency care work. She has spent the last 7 years working in the Phoenix area treating dogs and cats in General Practice. While there, she worked with a terrific group of veterinary staff and doctors that she considers her friends for life, so this made it hard to leave. After all these years of enjoying the open road and reading lots of audio books on the long commute, she finally decided she was ready to come back home to have more time with her family and to pursue some of her own interests at work and at home.

Dr. Guzmán will be continuing her general practice, but will also be working hard to build a full Rehabilitation (physical therapy) Service for our clinic over the next year. Just as with people, “Rehab” not only helps animals recover from injuries and surgery, but is also commonly used to help restore daily function, mobility, and improve or maintain quality of life.

Dr. Al Staab

Dr. Gotham

Gotham is our resident cat. He attended Purrrrdue University where he received his Master's in Napology. Although you may not see him around the lobby (If you do see him, he's probably munching on the house plant by Room 2), he is either meandering around the treatment area looking for a sunny spot to sleep or at the back door begging to go outside for just a minute. His hobbies include but are not limited to: sleeping, purring excessively when held, begging for snacks, trying to sneak onto the warm freshly cleaned towels for a quick snooze, and dressing up in costumes (no seriously, he LOVES to dress up).
